The Lost Gardens of Heligan. Heligan, seat of the Tremayne family for more than 400 years, is one of the most mysterious and romantic estates in England. A genuine secret garden, it was lost for decades; its history consigned to overgrowth. After decades of neglect, the devastating hurricane of 1990 should have consigned the now lost gardens to a footnote in history. But the project was fired by a magnificent obsession to bring these once glorious gardens back to life in every sense and to tell, for the first time, not tales of lords and ladies but of those “ordinary” people who had made these gardens great, before departing for the Great War.
Then of course, there’s the spectacular Eden Project. The Eden Project, an educational charity, connects us with each other and the living world, exploring how we can work towards a better future. Here, massive Biomes housing the largest rainforest in captivity, stunning plants, exhibitions and stories serve as a backdrop to our striking contemporary gardens, summer concerts and exciting year-round family events.
Feel the tropical heat in our stunning Rainforest Biome and experience four of the world’s rainforest environments: Tropical Islands, Southeast Asia, West Africa and Tropical South America. With the awe-inspiring domes and enormous trees towering above you, you’ll follow the path deep into our vast indoor jungle and find surprises around every corner.
There’s the Canopy Walkway, where you can take a stunning walk among the treetops and experience tropical weather, the beautiful and unique architecture of the Biome, the Malaysian hut, complete with vegetable plot and paddy field, and the waterfall, crashing through our South American rainforest, with much, much more.
Marvel at the huge model of a bee set amidst the flowerbeds near the entrance to our Biomes, outdoor gardens, the Core, onsite restaurant, Skywire, England’s longest zipwire, trails, soft play area, this is a day out you’ll never forget.
