Glamping in Carrick, July & August 2017 – FULL

We visited this site twice in 2016, and absolutely everyone just loved it. Just a few minutes outside Carrick on Shannon is this river-side campsite which offers a range of fully furnished units for our families.

Some set on a timber deck, each unit has comfortable beds with cosy duvets, bedding, extra blankets for evenings by the campfire, storage and seating for everyone. But if rustic camping is more your thing, you can bring your own tent for a reduced rate and still enjoy all the activities and meals with the group.

For smaller families we also have two of these super-cute VW Camper Tents to stay in. Separated down the centre into two rooms, you’ll find one with a huge cozy double bed, while the other side serves as a living/play/storage area.

Arrive on the afternoon of Sunday July 9th, or in August on Sunday 20th and settle into your private tent. We’ll spend the first evening getting to know each other properly with a catered BBQ, games and activities, followed by the roasting of marshmallows over the campfire.

On the first morning we a arranged a bus to bring you into Lough Key for the day, and with activities to suit children of all ages, there’s plenty to keep everyone occupied for hours.

The Adventure Play Kingdom is a dynamic, colourful and safe environment in an enclosed and stimulating play area with towers, slides, climbing frames, roundabouts, swings and puzzles.

For the older children, there’s the Lough Key Experience, with a Tree Canopy Walk is an unique experience that immerses you in the history, flora and fauna of this beautiful natural Park.Tree-Canopy-1-1024x1018Discover how the landscape was shaped, learn about the long gone Rockingham House and everything about the wildlife thriving in the surrounding forest and lakes.

For a small supplement, you might like to try something completely different and experience the Boda Borg. Also known as the Crystal Maze Experience, this is suitable for anyone aged 7yrs and older.

Now you’ve explored Lough Key and everything it has to offer, it’s time to head back to the comfort of our Teepee’s and Bell Tents before we have a night out for ourselves.

That evening we’ve arranged some supervised Movie & Pizza time for the children. They’ll be looked after by the professional site staff and fed some fresh pizza & mi-wadi as they watch a movie on the big screen. While the children are having their evening entertainment, the adults can head into town for a sit-down meal together.

With return transport included it’s an evening of relaxation knowing the children are well entertained and taken care of back at camp, and we’ll head back in on the bus after dinner.

On the second day of the little holiday, it’s a free day to do with as you please. Take advantage of the many onsite activities, such as a Bike Treasure Hunt for €15 per adult and €10 per child in the surrounding trails. You can also hire a boat for €20 per adult and €10 per child, or have even more fun on the water with some Stand Up Paddle Boarding for €25 per adult and €15 per child.

After a leisurely day of activities and sight-seeing, we have a lovely relaxing evening planned for everyone. We have a Dragon Boat Cruise to take the group up the river to a stunning river-side pub with an outdoor playground for a night out with a difference. Walk across the bridge into town for a bite to eat, or bring a picnic to have by the river, the choice is yours.

On the last day of the trip it’s another free day, with plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the onsite activities, including the Mudflats adjacent to the site which are perfect for a day of fishing. You can also head into Carrick on Shannon and have a wander through the streets, have a cuppa on the riverside and do a little shopping for your last day of the holiday, visit Strokestown House or Argina Mining Experience no more than 20 minutes away.

Tonight we’ll finish the holiday on a high with a final meal. Cooked by the onsite chef you’ll be served a delicious two-course menu and served in the communal dining room.
