We have been to Wexford Town a couple of times now, and this time we’re heading to the same county but landing in a quaint little town called New Ross. Just a short drive from Kilkenny, Wexford Town, Enniscorthy and Waterford, this location manages to give you everything the Sunny South East has to offer in just one spot.

We found a beautiful 4* Hotel, Spa & Leisure Centre just on the outskirts of this little town, and have planned to make the most of it by staying there for a weekend over the October mid-term break. Check into this lovely hotel on Friday November 4th, for 2 nights B&B and 1 evening meal. Kids Club daily is of course included, catering for children 5yrs and older with a range of activities to keep them occupied.

While the children are Supervised and entertained, you have to make the most of the wonderful Solas Croi Spa. This purpose-built Spa is unlike any other you might have visited, as it’s sense of calm and serenity spills out into the surrounding gardens.

A Five Senses Walk brings you through a calming exploration of our senses of touch, taste, smell, hearing and sight along a man-made walkway leading to a labyrinth, a chiming bridge, and taking in the views of the surrounding countryside.

The Solas Croi Spa offers a wide range of therapies and treatments. The Leisure Centre with a fully equipped gym, 20m swimming pool, kiddies pool, a hydrotherapy grotto, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna will get you completely relaxed to start the Summer holidays in style.

With so much for everyone onsite, you’d be forgiven for not wanting to leave the hotel, but just in case you do, you’ll be pleasantly surprised at the range of things to do and places to go. In New Ross Town Centre you’ll find the infamous Dunbrody Famine Ship, which is well worth a visit for the whole family, and Ross Adventure Play Barn for some fantastic indoor play.

The more adventurous should pop by Quad Attack for some muddy excitement on quad bikes, animal lovers will adore the Secret Valley Wildlife Park, which is nothing like any petting zoo you’ve seen before, and you can choose from having lunch by the river in Enniscorthy, on the quays in Waterford, or choose a beautiful beach in Wexford because they’re all just a short drive from the hotel.

Another fantastic day out is down to Hook Head, where you’ll find the amazing Hook Lighthouse. Dubbed ‘The Flashiest Lighthouse in the World‘ by Lonely Planet Travel Guide, it also boasts the title of the Oldest Operating Lighthouse in the World.

But that’s not all, the drive to Hook Head is a beautiful one, and on the way you’ll pass the Most Haunted House in Ireland, Loftus Hall. This spectacular mansion was abandoned because it was so haunted, and now the new owners give guided tours through the lower floor and share the stories that makes this house so famous. You have to pop your head in for a look during a Halloween mid-term!

    • Hi, for New Ross you could get public transport into Wexford or Waterford and it’s another short bus ride to New Ross. You also might be able to share a lift with another parent, depending on where you’re traveling from. Let me know if you’d like me to send on the booking details 🙂
