Trabolgan, August 2014

'Thank you guys so so much for a fantastic weekend away. Loved every moment and highly recommending to others. Even though it was 3 days it felt longer, and the other parents and all the children were great. Will be keeping in touch and hopefully meeting up. We will be going on other trips with you guys.
Thank you so much.....
Ann & Sibeal xx '

On Friday August 8th for three nights, departing on Monday August 11th, we went to the wonderful world of Trabolgan! For those of you in the know, you’ll be pretty excited already, but for those who aren’t familiar with this fantastic resort, read on…

Trabolgan Holiday Village is located on the coast just south of Midleton, in Co. Cork, and really does have something for everyone.

On-site activities include Swimming Pool, Fitness Room, Sauna, Steam Room and 18 hole par 3 Golf Course, and that’s just for the adults!

10588850_823852757625643_725292052_nThe children can also have full use of the Toddlers Pool, Florrie’s Den, Indoor Jungle Safari, Eco-Friendly Playground, Outdoor Wooden Wonderland, Indoor Sports Hall & Equipment, Soccer, Badminton, Tennis, Crazy Golf and Daily & Nightly Entertainment.

For an extra cost you can also avail of a beauty treatment, Trabolgan Adventure Sports (go-karts, zip wire, combat laser, bungee trampoline, etc), Bowling, Pottery Studio, Birds of Prey Educational Centre & Kayleighs Sanctuary.

Our One Parent Holidays Group stayed in one of four beautiful lodges on-site, called the Sycamore and Noble Fir houses, with a selection of room-types in each. Each One Parent Holidays Family had their own room in the shared self-catering house, with all bed linen supplied but you would need to bring your own towels for the house and swimming pool.

On a half-board basis, the meals were included daily for breakfast and dinner in the lovely Sally O’Hara’s Restaurant, starting with the evening meal on Friday up to 8.30pm, and ending with breakfast on departure the morning of Monday August 11th up to 10.30am. We ended up having a reserved area for each morning and evening, so we ate as a group, with different families doing different things each day.

After saying goodbye, some of the families headed over to Fota Wildlife Park for the afternoon, one of many things they can choose to do in the area before the end of their holiday, and had a fantastic time by all accounts.

The room types to choose from depended on the size and needs of each family, then we added the half-board rate to the room rate for the final price. The rates per room type are for all three nights:
Double Room – €250 (1 double bed)
Double ensuite – €270 (1 double bed with ensuite shower room)
Twin Room – €230 (2 single beds)
Triple Room – €260 (1 single bed & 1 pair bunk beds)
Quad Room – €270 (1 double bed & 1 pair bunk beds)

1 adult & 1 child = Room Price + €90
1 adult & 2 children = Room Price + €126
1 adult & 3 children = Room Price + €162

So if, for example, you had two children and would like a Triple Room for your stay, then your rate would have been €260 plus €126, totaling €386. This included breakfast on all three mornings, and dinner on all three evenings, along with full use of the included on-site facilities listed above.
Room types were limited, and allocated on a first come first served basis.

sandra langan 10We were delighted with the families who joined us for this trip, because it might have been the most exciting one we’ve ever had. Going to a beautiful county is one thing, but going to the beautiful coast of Co. Cork, in Trabolgan Holiday Village with the activities and facilities to keep both adults and children entertained for three days and nights, well that’s just perfect 🙂
