Wicklow, August 2016 – FULL

11334099_478107219024164_5099173986574348392_oWe’ve found a gem of a spot in Wicklow, just a short drive from some of the most beautiful scenery Ireland has to offer, while still being surrounded by everything  you need to occupy and entertain the children. Right on the cusp of the country with all the advantages of a city hotel, this property in Newtownmountkennedy is nestled between the Wicklow mountains and the Irish Sea.

Arrive August 2nd and stay for 3 nights in a spacious room, and enjoy daily Kids Club every evening. Kids Club caters for children ages 3-12yrs, and activities include Arts & Crafts, Nintendo, Wii Games, Quizzes, Movie Night, Disco Night, and much more.

Although this hotel doesn’t have a swimming pool, which is unusual for a One Parent Holidays Group Trip, there is enough in and around to more than make up for this. A Public Leisure Centre just down the road boasts a large swimming pool, and with concessions for our guests it’s very easy to have a nice dip in the pool while you’re on your mini-break.

There’s so much more to see and do here, that we could overlook the lack of an onsite swimming pool, and I’m sure you’ll agree. Just one of the many days out you can have while you’re here is Clara Lara Fun Park.

This fantastic Park is the best old-fashioned place for your children. Make sure they’re in their swim togs and bring spare towels and dry clothes, because with rafting, swinging between the trees, fishing, paddling, water obstacle courses, slippery logs, and so much more, this is a kids Heaven on Earth.

Bring supplies to cook your meals on the BBQ, feast at the picnic tables as the kids jump in and out of the water features. Treat yourselves to an ice cream or two in the onsite shop, and just relax while the children go wild in the safety of this perfect Fun Park.

Another fantastic way to spend your afternoon is at Greenan Farm Museums & Maze. A Celtic Maze on 1/2 an acre, with a meandering stream through it and a pond in the middle is an exciting new experience, while the Solstice Maze within a large stone circle is more relaxing for adults and children alike.

Also onsite are Museums such as the Farm Museum showing old horsedrawn machinery and hand-made materials from a bygone age, the Barn Museum containing implements and tools from 200yrs of local farming history, and the Old Farmhouse which served as a safehouse for Irish Rebels and is now refurbished and fully resorted displaying genuine weapons including Pikes.

So the farmers in the family are covered, the rest of the group can head on a Wild Nature Walk by Ballinanty Brook, through a wild nature reserve to Dragon Fly Walk which is raised off the ground, and viewing platforms scattered around the three ponds. Farm animals to meet and cuddle, Tea Rooms for a quick bite to eat and an Art & Craft Shop will keep everyone occupied.

Also in the immediate area there is Bowling, indoor play areas, Glendalough and its Lakes, Sealife Aquarium, Glenroe Farm and many beaches up and down the coast of Co. Wicklow. So with Kids Club every day, and such a perfect location, you can’t go wrong with this Group Trip because it really has something for everyone.
